We are indeed very happy to present ―Applied Chemistry‖ book for post graduate M.Sc.
chemistry and diploma engineers‘ student. Chemistry is the branch of science that deals with
the study of matter, its composition, physical and chemical properties and applications. The
present addition of book is as per the latest CBCS syllabus of post graduate and UG student.
The whole prescribed syllabus is divided in to fourteen chapters covering all the disciplines of
applied chemistry.
The book has been prepared keeping in view the syllabus prepared by different University
on the basis of model CBCS PG semester curriculum. This book has been written in a simple
and comprehensible language. A large number of illustrations, Tables, pictures and interesting
examples have been provided to make the reading interesting and understandable. The
questions that have been provided in the exercise are in the tune with latest pattern of CBCS
examinations. The present book gives exhaustive overview of various chapter like Water
analysis and Treatment ,Polymer chemistry, Fuels and Petrochemical Analysis, Paint and
varnishes ,Soap and detergent ,Glass and Ceramics ,Fertilizers ,Pesticides ,Environmental
pollution, Cement ,Lubricant ,Corrosion and its Control ,Adhesive and Explosive. At the end of
each chapter Important questions, , exercise, theoretical questions along with their answer are
given.
I hope the present book will prove a useful tool for teachers and students of PG students
and engineering class. I would welcome suggestion from the teaching fraternity and students
are further improvement of the book. I wish to thanks my family and friends who helped and
encouraged me to undertaken this onerous task. Finally I dedicate this effort to my father late.
