The rapid advancement of the Internet of Things (IoT), embedded systems, and wireless communication technologies has significantly transformed modern defence systems and military operations. Real-time monitoring, intelligent surveillance, secure communication, and automated decision-making have become essential components of modern warfare and national security. This book, IoT in Defence Applications, highlights the role of IoT technologies in enhancing defence infrastructure, soldier safety, and operational efficiency.
One of the major focuses of this work is the use of IoT-enabled Position Tracking Systems (PTS) for monitoring soldiers’ location and health conditions in real time. By integrating sensors, GPS modules, and wireless communication technologies, such systems help in tracking vital parameters such as heart rate, body temperature, and movement during military operations. These technologies improve situational awareness and assist commanders in making timely and effective decisions.
The objective of this book is to provide a clear understanding of IoT-based defence applications, including smart surveillance systems, soldier monitoring, wireless sensor networks, and secure communication technologies. Theoretical concepts have been combined with practical approaches to make the content useful for students, researchers, and professionals in the fields of Electronics, Communication, Embedded Systems, and Defence Technology.
