Online education is a flexible instructional delivery system that encompasses any kind of learning that takes place via the Internet. Online learning gives educators an opportunity to reach students who may not be able to enrol in a traditional classroom course and supports students who need to work on their own schedule and at their own pace. Especially, during COVID-19, online education has become a viable and exciting method for instructional delivery not only in India but at the global scale. So, present book is an attempt to look for the challengesand opportunities inherent in its application to make it a better system for educational academia.
Present Book has been divided into 4 sections namely Online Education: Challenges and Scope,Teaching in the Online Classroom, ICT Tools & APPs and Online Education System: Blended & Collaborative Learning. The first section includes three papers/ chapters. In Chapter 1, computer phobia among prospective teachers in relation to teaching aptitude has been given by Shreya. In Chapter 2, Subhashini discuss about challenges and scope of online education. Chapter 3 describes challenges and opportunities in online learning authored by Sunaina and Lalitha.
The second section contains six papers on teaching in online classrooms. In Chapter 4, by Bakshi, Gupta and Sharma discusses about the problems and solutions inonline teaching. In chapter 5, Pavithra presents teachers’ perception on technology acceptance in pandemic times. Nishchal and Gupta in chapter 6, talk about digital education and students’ learning. In chapter 7, Chatterjee and Goswami elaborate the art of being a brilliant teacher in online classroom. Goswamiand Chatterjee in chapter 8, discuss about emerging learning ecology and shifting of leadership from teachers to students. Various government initiatives taken at central and state levels for e-learning have been taken highlighted by Rana in chapter 9.
