Industrial pharmacists conduct research, testing and analysis in the development of medicines and production of pharmaceuticals and related supplies. Industrial pharmacists use the latest methods, technologies and processes to develop new medications, and may be involved in clinical drug trials. To become a industrial pharmacist, you need to study a degree in pharmacy at university. Alternatively, you can study a bachelor degree in a related field, followed by a postgraduate qualification in pharmacy. Curtin University offers a four-year Bachelor of Pharmacy. This is the only undergraduate degree specialising in pharmacy in Western Australia. Curtin University and the University of Western Australia both offer a two-year Master of Pharmacy. Indian pharmaceutical sector supplies over 50% of global demand for various vaccines, 40% of generic demand in the US and 25% of all medicine in the UK. Globally, India ranks 3rd in terms of pharmaceutical production by volume and 14th by value. The domestic pharmaceutical industry includes a network of 3,000 drug companies and ~10,500 manufacturing units.
