PREFACE

Engineering interventions in agriculture have become imperative to improve productivity, reduce the cost of production and drudgery and improve livelihood opportunities including enhanced income. Over the years the country has built a strong network of agriculture engineering institutions which has resulted in technological competence and maturity of the discipline.

Agricultural engineering deals with the four major disciplines namely; Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, Soil and Water Engineering, Food Processing Engineering and Renewable Energy. A number of books dealing with the above disciplines are available today but most of them are textbooks.

The main objective of this book is to furnish the important information of all branches of agricultural engineering. The book is designed in view of the competitive examinations and therefore multiple choice answers type questions have been included.

The book will be helpful for this students preparing for NET, ARS, JRF and GATE and other competitive examination as well. The questions in this book have been compiled from the reputed books of agricultural engineering in consultation with the experts of this profession.
